Dear Dr. Pinsky,

Congratulations on producing the successful VH1 television show, “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.”

I understand you are receiving a lot of negative feedback on this show from various medical organizations and from the media. I feel this is unjust because your show brings to light the very serious problems thousands of substance abusers face each day. I am sure there are a variety of ways the show could have or should have been produced. However, you are treading on virgin territory when it comes to exposing any substance abuse rehabilitation on television and you should be commended for doing so.

It might be a good idea to follow-up this program with updates on your clients and maybe even produce another similar type show. Do not worry about your critics, brother. They will always be there. You are on the front lines and I admire your commitment to help those in need.

Please find enclosed a copy of my book, “Once Life Matters: A New Beginning.” I donate thousands of copies of this book to prisons, rehabs, and troubled celebrities. I had to find out the hard way what a problem my substance abuse really was and the havoc it caused in my life. It is too bad there was not the emphasis placed on rehab back in the ‘60s and ‘70s. It might have saved me from serving six years in prison.

Please understand I believe in the Christian approach to treating any type of life controlling situation. If I did not go through what I did to find real peace, I am sure I would be either dead, in prison for the rest of my life, or locked up in a mental institution.

You and the troubled celebrities on your program have done a tremendous job in your willingness to be open and honest in dealing with this dreadful curse on modern society.

Regards,

Marty Angelo
