Annual Report Marty Angelo Ministries 2007

NOTE FROM MARTY: Greetings and Happy New Year! I would like to take a moment before you read this annual report to thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and encouraging words this past year.

My ministry took a significant and very important turn in 2007. What started to be another year of outreach to prisons, jails, and rehabs, God opened a door for me to include troubled celebrities. This came as quite a surprise to me at first, however, after thinking and praying about it I understand completely why I was placed in this new mission field: "I've been down a similar road." I know from experience God uses us from where we came.

Today's celebrity is no different than the celebrities I worked and partied with before becoming a Christian back in 1981. They are all drinking the same booze, snorting, shooting, smoking the same dope, hanging around the same type of party haunts, and getting into the same kind of trouble.

When I see one of today's celebrities receive legal consequences because of their out-of-control partying lifestyle, it reminds me of all the similar times I experienced with my old friends while running wild in the entertainment business. I feel the urgent need to reach out and share with these people by sending them a letter and a copy of my book, "Once Life Matters". Most times I just send an autographed book with an inscribed positive message of hope. In a couple of rare special occasions, I even offered to serve their jail time if they would agree to enroll into a faith-based Christian recovery treatment program. This is how serious I am about getting the message of salvation across.

I do not reach out to celebrities to attract attention to myself, but to share with them through my own personal experiences that the road they are on will only bring more pain, sorrow, and possibly death if they do not change their ways now. I offer the simple, yet powerful Gospel message as the Way to accomplish those changes.

This type of outreach method dates back to when my own loving sister Joanne reached out to me in the same manner. Joanne knew what I needed two long years before I finally came to grips with it for myself, and accepted God's salvation plan. Her way of reaching me during those two years was to send me small Christian gospel message tracts, faith-based books, and testimony audiotapes. I am so thankful for her ministry because it not only saved my life, but gave me real Peace for the last 27 years, and the ability to reach out to help others who have similar problems.

As I reflect back to my non-Christian days, my sister was the only one I ever came in contact with who put action works with her faith (James 2:19-21-KJV). Up to that point I do not remember anyone in the entertainment business in the '60s and '70s receiving Christian materials that would help change our lives. We were all truly lost without any real meaning, plan, or purpose. It continues to sound like a similar pattern in people's lives (including celebrities) still to this day.

The few times I sat in a county jail, I was never given nor even saw any Christian outreach material. I am not saying I would have read anything, yet alone apply the principles to my life, however, I do know beyond a shadow of a doubt I would have never forgotten the gesture. If I did read it, I am sure some seeds of faith would have been planted.

I have tried to use my sister's similar ministry techniques to reach out to prisoners, substance abuse rehab clients, and now ... troubled celebrities. If you have read my book, "Once Life Matters," you already know who I met, partied, and worked with back in the old days of rock 'n' roll, r&b., and disco. Many of those celebrities are unfortunately no longer around to have the opportunity to change their lives. Most died in a horrible manner at such a young age because of their insane partying lifestyles. I could have easily been one of them. This is the reason why I feel the urgent need to get my book into the hands of prisoners, substance abusers, and now, troubled celebrities.

I know I would either be dead or spending the rest of my life in prison if it were not for Jesus Christ coming into my life through my sister's love, care, and for her being an obedient doer of the Word (James 1:21-24 -KJV). Joanne knew that what God had to offer me would ultimately change my life. I pray the people I reach out to will experience the same urgent enthusiasm, compassion, and life-changing message.

Please continue to partner with me in prayer for the success of my ministry's mission. Thank you.
